Helpful Information
About Summer Camp
- The twelve points of the Scout Law
are the governing rules of Chesterfield Scout Reservation. All Scouts are
expected to follow the Oath and Law, and to Be Prepared, mentally awake
and morally straight.
- Check-in
starts at 1:00 PM
Sunday of your week at camp.
- Check-Out: Troops check out any time after
Saturday morning colors. For Troops staying two weeks, or
out-of-council units who need to arrive early, Saturday-night stay-overs
may be arranged in advance. Meals are not served on Saturday after
breakfast, or Sunday breakfast or lunch, and camp staff is not available
over weekend stays.
- Site Reservations: Troops
must file a site reservation form with a $50 deposit to be guaranteed a
site at camp. The reservation form is available at the Great Trails
Council Service Center, or may be downloaded from this website. The $50
deposit is non-refundable, but may be applied to Scout camping fees and
must be used during the camp season for which it was paid.
- Pre-camp meetings: Troop
leaders should plan to attend the pre-camp meeting, which will be held
before your troop is due to arrive at camp. The meetings will be at the
Camp. If you can not attend this meeting, please contact the Camp
Director.
- Medical Forms:
All Scouts and
leaders are required to bring a current completed
medical form to camp. The medical
form will be reviewed by the Camp Health Officer. A Scout or leader
cannot be accepted for participation in camp activities unless the form is
on file. Photocopies are acceptable, forms on file will not be returned.
-
A certified health officer
staffs CSR’s Health Lodge. Most other staff members have also recently
completed refresher training in first aid techniques and CPR.
- Health And Medical Insurance:
Every Scout in the Great Trails Council is covered by an Accident and
Sickness insurance policy. Out-of-Council units attending Chesterfield
Scout Reservation need to make private arrangements for personal coverage
prior to coming to Camp.
- OUT OF COUNCIL TROOPS MUST HAVE PROPER TOUR PERMITS
with them when they arrive in camp. This is a National BSA requirement.
- TROOPS SHOULD HANDLE FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS FOR THEIR
SCOUTS
- please submit camp fees as a group to
the Council Service Center. Do not have Scouts send fees directly to
the Council, except for Scouts attending camp without their troops.
- Camperships
are available to
Great Trails Council Scouts with financial need. Camperships are funded by
adult members of the Great Trails Council, area businesses and foundations
as well as local service
organizations. We greatly appreciate their assistance. We also suggest
that troop committees consider arranging for in-troop help for boys who
will have problems affording Summer Camp, so as to spread the limited
Council Campership funds as widely as possible. Campership application
forms are available from the Council Service Center or our
downloadable forms page.
-
SPECIAL DIETARY
NEEDS - If you have anyone with special
dietary needs, please let us know at the Pre-Camp Leaders meeting (prior
to your attending Camp). Attempts will be made to accommodate them
whenever possible.
- Visitors: The Great Trails
Council and the staff at Chesterfield Scout Reservation are proud of our
facility and welcome parents, prospective campers, alumni and other
visitors. Any visitor to camp must register at the Camp Office upon
arrival and sign in and out.
When seating allows, visitors may purchase meal
tickets. Breakfast: $3.00, Lunch: $4.00, Dinner: $5.00. Meal tickets
should be presented to the Dining Hall Steward. To guarantee a meal, 24
hours notice should be given.-
Friday Evening
BBQ -
Every Friday evening at 6:00 pm a traditional chicken BBQ is served for
all Campers, parents, visitors and Leaders. Scouts and Scouters who are
camping enjoy the BBQ as part of their camp experience. Guests are $7.00
each. Visitor tickets may be purchased by leaders at the pre camp meeting
or on Sunday when your unit arrives at camp.
- Chesterfield Scout Reservation is accredited by the Boy
Scouts of America
, and is inspected by the
Northeast Region BSA Camp Evaluation Team. Chesterfield Scout Reservation
is also inspected by the Town of Chesterfield Board of Health.
- Chesterfield Scout Reservation is open to all
registered Scouts regardless of race, color,
creed or national origin. Chesterfield Scout Reservation is an equal
opportunity employer.
