Shooting Sports Area
| The rifle, bow and arrow, and shotgun are symbols of
the American pioneer. In early America, they were the survival tools.
The Shooting Sports Area offers you the opportunity to develop the
skills and safety required to create a hobby of lifelong interest. |
| At the Archery Range scouts learn the
proper use of bows and arrows. The Archery merit badge can be earned
here as well. It is sometimes difficult for younger scouts, but makes
an excellent choice for stronger boys as they mature. Scouts should be
told that a substantial amount of practice time is needed to achieve
scores. It is often difficult to complete this badge in one week. |
| At the Rifle Range, scouts learn the proper use
of rifles. The range has stations for rifle shooting. The merit
badge that can be earned here are Rifle Shooting. This area is one
that interests many campers. The merit badges are sometimes
difficult for younger scouts, but make an excellent choice for
stronger boys as they mature. Scouts should be told that a
substantial amount of practice time is needed to achieve scores.
It is often difficult to complete these badges in one week. There
are nominal fees. |

Robin Hood Shoot, Daniel Boone & Davey Crockett Competition
These awards are given to the best marksmen in the Shooting Sports
Area. They are for the Scouts that are taking Rifle, Shotgun or
Archery Merit Badges. The Scouts that earn the most points during
the week for the merit badge will receive the award. They will be
awarded at Flag Retreat on Friday.
